Arrest Made In New Rochelle Armory Homicide

Police have also identified the woman whose body was found Friday.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — An arrest has been made in relation to a woman’s body that was found Friday morning near the former New Rochelle Armory. Police said Jose Olmos, a 28-year-old homeless Hispanic man, was arrested at 4:47 a.m. Saturday and charged with second-degree murder.

He is being held at the New Rochelle Police Department pending arraignment Monday, July 30.

The dead woman was identified as Nurten Seljik, 66. Police said her address has yet to be confirmed, but family members, who were notified of her death, said she was living “a transient lifestyle.”

Police said it appears she suffered massive blunt force trauma to her head.

However, the official cause of death is pending the outcome of the medical examiner’s investigation.

Police said no further information will be released at this time because the investigation remains active.

Around 7:40 a.m. Friday, police were sent to the site of the former Armory building, for a report of a possible dead woman.

The Armory is located at 270 Main St. in New Rochelle.

On arrival, officers found Seljik's body lying in the driveway.
