Bites Nearby: Gourmet Noodles

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, New Rochelle Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out.

If you are tired of the same old Chineese food menu and would like a healthy alterative to satisfy your far-east craving, you may want to give Gourmet Noodles a try.

Using white meat only in all of their chicken dishes as well as fresh vegetables and a wide menu selection, Gourmet Noodles is sure to have something for everyone whether it is lunch or dinner.

Dum sum, moo shu and pancakes, bean curd and a large stir-fry menu are just some of the many things patrons have to choose from. 

They have an extensive soup menu, from egg drop, chicken rice and wonton, to a special creation called Tom Yum Khoong which is a Thai spicy soup with shrimp, chicken and vegetables.

Recently Kathy Bogaki of New Rochelle went there for what was her third trip in one week after getting hooked on the chow mei fun with chicken and she says that the place is often very crowded around lunch time which is a good thing.

"You can always tell a good restaurant by how long the line is," Bogaki said. "Gourmet Noodles is so much more healthy than the other Chinese places in the city."

Open from 11:30 a.m to 10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11:30 a.m to 10:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays, Gourmet Noodles can be a quick and healthy option for either lunch or dinner.
