NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A Bronx man who was on trial for robbing a New Rochelle man in his own home has pleaded guilty to multiple felonies. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said Monday that Augustus Moore, 30, of the Bronx, admitted his guilt March 22 to three charges while his trial was underway.

Moore pleaded guilty to the following:

  • First-degree robbery, a felony
  • First-degree burglary, a felony
  • Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony

He was remanded into custody, with sentencing scheduled for May 14.

Scarpino said the victim of the crimes was in his New Rochelle home Jan. 18, 2018, with Madisyn Pettaway, of Jersey City, New Jersey. She was a woman he had been dating for six months or so.

Around 4:55 a.m., Pettaway let Moore and two other individuals into the apartment, police said.

Moore went into the victim's bedroom, pointed a firearm at him and told him to get face down on the bed.

The man complied and his mouth was taped shut and his arms and legs were tied up with tape and clothing, police said.

While on the bed, the victim was able to hear his apartment being ransacked, according to authorities.

After about 20 minutes, Moore and the two other individuals left the victim's apartment and drove away.

The victim was able to free himself from being tied up, walked through his apartment and found that jewelry, money, clothing and electronics, including his cellphone, were missing.

He went out to the street, found someone walking by and asked that person to call 911.

After an investigation, Moore was arrested May 7, 2018, by New Rochelle police.

Moore and Pettaway were indicted by a Westchester County grand jury in July 2018.

Pettaway pleaded guilty March 20, 2019, to second-degree attempted burglary, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal facilitation, a misdemeanor.

According to a District Attorney's office spokeswoman, Pettaway is out on bail and will be sentenced June 18, 2019.
