NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The City School District of New Rochelle board president tested negative for the new coronavirus. Amy Moselhi took the test Saturday after Superintendent Dr. Laura Feijóo tested positive for COVID-19.

Moselhi, who had been working closely with Feijóo since the outbreak began in New Rochelle, said she was glad to receive the news of her negative test result and hopes Feijóo recovers swiftly.

"Through these difficult times, our focus most remain on the students and their needs," she said.

Feijóo sent a letter to the community Saturday announcing that she had tested positive for the virus. She was tested March16 and said she would be quarantined for two weeks from that date.

Three of the district's schools were shuttered after Gov. Andrew Cuomo mandated a 1-mile radius containment area centered around Young Israel of New Rochelle in the northern part of the city in an attempt to slow the spread of the virus.

Feijóo announced three days later that all schools in the district would be closed.
