
On Thursday, September 23, 2010, as part of its Third Annual Fitness for Life! Day, The College of New Rochelle (CNR) will present a special evening lecture entitled "The Power of Fitness" by a leading exercise physiologist and noted speaker, Dr. Murray Low.
The lecture, an official "Exercise is Medicine on Campus" event, takes place at 7 p.m. in the Romita Auditorium on the Main Campus. "Exercise is Medicine on Campus" is a national initiative of the American College of Sports Medicine to promote physical activity and its health benefits on college campuses across the country.
The lecture will be followed by a question and answer session, featuring a panel of CNR Nursing and Arts & Sciences students, and will conclude with a reception. Dr. Low, Director of Cardiac Rehabilitation at three Westchester County hospitals including Sound Shore Medical Center, The Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, and Northern Westchester Hospital, was the first president-elect of the New York State Association for Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation and was honored with its first "Visionary Award." Recognized for his "Excellence in Education," he is a Fellow, and past-president (2008-09), of the American Association of Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Rehabilitation and the American College of Sports Medicine.
The lecture at The College of New Rochelle will be the culmination of the College's 3rd Annual Fitness for Life! Day event, a day devoted to health education for all members of the CNR Community.

The day's events begin at 9 a.m. with a one-mile Fun Run and Walk around the Campus. Activities also include fitness testing and tours of the College's state-of-the-art Wellness Center.
