Free Dog, Cat Adoptions Offered at Yonkers Animal Shelter

During the holiday week, fees for adopting a dog or cat are being waived.

YONKERS, NY — As an incentive to get more people to adopt a homeless dog or cat, the Yonkers Animal Shelter is offering free adoptions between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. from Monday, Dec. 26 through Saturday, Dec. 31.

“My hope is that by waiving these adoption fees during the holidays, many animals will find loving homes as we head into the New Year,” said Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano.

According to a press release from the mayor’s office, dog adoptions typically cost $80 and cats typically cost $65.
