Impending Snow Storm Causes Refuse Collection Changes in New Rochelle

As the storm approaches, city officials ask for residents' cooperation.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The City of New Rochelle is advising that there will be changes in garbage collection over the next couple of days because of the predicted storm.

From the City of New Rochelle:

Due to the impending storm, predicted to bring accumulating snow to New Rochelle, Thursday’s garbage/trash pickup has been postponed until Friday, when all garbage/trash will be collected citywide in both the North and South ends.
Public Works crews will be at work tonight and tomorrow clearing the roads. Pease keep in mind the following:
  • Avoid unnecessary travel
  • To facilitate snow plowing, relocate cars off street where possible
  • When shoveling out, don’t throw snow back into roadways
  • Assist the Fire Department by clearing fire hydrants near your property
  • Pile garbage for pickup at curb, not in the street
Some blustery winds are expected Thursday night. If you experience a power outage, call Con Edison directly at 1-800-75- CON ED or 1-800-752-6633. Report downed trees to the Police Department at 914-654-2300.
