Indictment For New Rochelle Cop Accused Of Causing Fatal Crash

Police said he was three times over the legal limit for alcohol.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A New Rochelle police officer faces a felony vehicular manslaughter charge for allegedly driving while intoxicated causing a crash that killed a friend. Harry Kyreakedes was allegedly three times the legal limit for alcohol when the crash occurred that killed Isaac Ward, 27.

Kyreakedes, who was off duty at the time of the crash, is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday, the Journal News said.

He had been initially charged with second-degree manslaughter for the early morning Jan. 2 fatal accident.

Shortly after the accident, New Rochelle City Manager Charles Strome III issued a statement about Kyreakedes that stated that he had been with the department for a little over a year.
