
The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has named The College of New Rochelle freshman Indigo Flowers (Castro Valley, CA/Castro Valley HS) its Volleyball Rookie of the Week, it was announced Tuesday by the conference office. This marks a school-record fourth Volleyball Rookie of the Week honor for Flowers.
Flowers quarterbacked the Blue Angels to an unbeaten 4-0 record, including a school-record 43 assist performance in the win over John Jay College and averaged 6.19 assists per set on the week. The setter, already among the national leaders in service aces, posted three matches with five or more aces, including a season-high nine in the win over Cooper Union, averaging 1.40 aces per set on the week. The Castro Valley, CA resident also averaged 2.31 digs per set on the week. She also recorded two double-doubles on the week to raise her season total to nine.
Flowers has already set new program records for assists in a season and aces in a season and is ranked second in NCAA DIII for aces per set through matches of October 20.
