Jazz Fests Are Back in La Rochelle and New Rochelle

Cool jazz sounds on the Sound Shore with an international connection are making a post-COVID return with Hudson Park free outdoor concerts.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The New Rochelle Jazz Festival is jamming once again at the Hudson Park Bandshell over two nights this weekend.

Saturday night will have “Tasty” Mike Murphy Blues at 6 p.m. and Ras Chemash the “Singing Chef” with Brian Carter on drums at 7:30 p.m.

On Sunday night, the Courtney Johnson Jazz Group will take the stage at 6 p.m. They will be followed by Jon Backer and Friends, featuring Ana Hoffman at 7:30 p.m.

The New Rochelle Jazz Festival was founded in 2008 by Brian Carter, Ross May and Donna Harris as a celebration of jazz in July. The core mission of the festival is to continue a transatlantic musical exchange with New Rochelle’s sister city La Rochelle in France, which hosts its own renowned jazz festival in August as well.

The Hudson Park Bandshell is located at 1 Hudson Park Road in New Rochelle. All shows are free.
