New Ro Man Hit By Car Dies After 12 Days In Hospital
Police charged the driver of the car with DWI and felony vehicular assault.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — After 12 days of fighting for his life, the New Rochelle man who was struck by a suspected drunken driver March 31 has died. Fernando Izazaga was 27 years old.
Johnny Gialanella, 27, of Yonkers was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and second-degree vehicular assault, a felony, the Journal News said.
Authorities are trying to determine whether more severe charges should be leveled against Gialanella.

Izazaga's family set up a fundraising site to help pay for funeral arrangements.
The site has raised more than $17,000 dollars, as of Wednesday morning, after setting a goal of $15,000. It is no longer accepting donations.
