New Ro Man Sentenced For Attempted Robbery
A New Rochelle will be going to prison for attempted robbery.
NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A New Rochelle man will be spending time in prison for an attempted bank robbery in 2019. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said Wednesday that Henry Nieves, 52, of New Rochelle, was sentenced to 3.5 years in state prison with five years' post-release supervision.
He pleaded guilty Dec. 16 to first-degree attempted robbery, a felony.
Authorities said, around 12:45 p.m. Aug. 22, Nieves walked into the Wells Fargo branch on South Broadway in Yonkers with a kitchen knife.

He displayed the weapon to bank employee and demanded money.
Police said he took more than $2,700 from the teller and fled the bank.

Nieves was spotted entering and exiting the same bank by an employee a few days later and was arrested by Yonkers police.
