New Rochelle to Add Red Light Cameras at 8 Intersections
The cameras will monitor drivers who run red lights.

New Rochelle will add red light cameras this spring at eight as-yet-undetermined intersections around the city to catch drivers who run red lights, officials announced this week.
The city will contract with Hanover, MD-based Brekford Corp. to install the cameras, and once they are in place, New Rochelle will join Mount Vernon and Yonkers in operating such a system in Westchester.
Drivers who are caught by one of the cameras will be sent a ticket. The Journal News reports that Brekford will pay the cost of installation and receive a percentage of the revenue from tickets issued, though that rate has yet to be settled.

“Any revenue that does come in would be an addition, would be a positive for us,” City Manager Charles Strome told The Journal News.
