New Rochelle Father Accused Of Killing Daughter Indicted Friday
The 7-year-old child was a student at William B. Ward Elementary School.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The New Rochelle father accused of suffocating his daughter was indicted Friday. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. announced that Neil White, 47, of New Rochelle, was arraigned on and pleaded not guilty to an indictment charging him with second-degree murder, a felony, in the death of his 7-year-old daughter, Gabrielle White.
Scarpino said, on June 6, around 3:05 p.m., the nanny who helped to care for Gabrielle came to 3 Arbor Glen in New Rochelle where she and her father lived. The nanny went to the third floor of the home and called out to both of them. Neil White, who was bleeding from both his wrists from self-inflicted knife cuts, came out of the master bedroom. The nanny became frightened and fled the home.

Later, White was taken to the hospital for treatment where the cuts to his wrists were closed with stitches. He was also read his rights and questioned. White was subsequently charged in the death of his daughter.

The Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the cause of the victim’s death was asphyxia from smothering.
White remains in jail. His next court date is August 24, 2017.
If convicted of the charge, he faces 25 years to life in state prison.
