NEW ROCHELLE, NY — There is a new way to get around downtown New Rochelle. The Queen City on the Sound held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday launching "CircuitNR," a complimentary, on-demand electric shuttle service that takes riders along several highly trafficked areas in New Rochelle's downtown.

Mayor Noam Bramson said CircuitNR augments the city's transit options and is added value for its residents, visitors and commuters.

"Through innovative, user-friendly and fun initiative like this, we make our community safer, more enjoyable and more interactive for those who currently reside in New Rochelle and for those looking to join us," he said.

CircuitNR will operate within a designated coverage area — Main & Huguenot, Memorial Highway, and North Avenue up to Fifth Avenue — and will be available between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. Friday, between noon and 10 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Residents and visitors of New Rochelle can request an on-demand ride anywhere in the shuttle coverage area by using the “Ride Circuit” App to alert a fleet driver to come pick them up. Alternatively, rides can be hailed by simply waving down the nearest CircuitNR driver if the vehicle has vacant seats.
