NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle police have introduced a tool to help give officers information they need to help protect residents with special challenges that could complicate interactions with police.

From the City of New Rochelle.

The New Rochelle Police Department has launched a new Special Needs Registry, aimed at improving communications and safety for individuals with special needs in our community. This voluntary registry allows families and caregivers to provide valuable information on challenges like mobility, communication, or mental health issues that will be readily available to Police Officers responding to a call for service. The goal is to ensure that first responders are aware of any medical, behavioral or communications challenges that could impact their interactions as they render assistance in emergency situations.
