New Rochelle Woman Dies In Dominican Republic

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A Westchester woman underwent plastic surgery in the Dominican Republic and death. She was the third death in a month involving an American.

Alexandra Medina of New Rochelle was having liposuction done in a Santo Domingo clinic Friday when she stopped breathing and died, newyork.cbslocal.com said.

A fatty tissue embolism — a blood clot — was listed on the death certificate as the cause.

The FBI's Miami office is assisting with the local investigation, the Journal News said.

Since May, at least 10 Americans have died in the Dominican Republic.
