NRFD Holds Promotion, Awards Ceremony
A new fire chief was sworn in, promotions were handed out and new firefighters were welcomed.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The New Rochelle Fire Department hosted its annual Promotion and Awards Ceremony Wednesday at the Council Chambers in City Hall. Newly appointed Fire Chief Andrew Sandor and Deputy Chief Ted Ferrara were joined by Mayor Noam Bramson, City Manager Charles Strome III, staff and families as they honored a number of firefighters with the Life Saving and Unit Citation Awards.
“Members of the New Rochelle fire Department have rightfully earned these promotions and awards,” Fire Chief Andrew Sandor said. “It is good and fitting that we gather today to recognize their accomplishments.”
Since the last awards ceremony in 2016, the NRFD has responded to more than 16,000 calls. “The 18 events being recognized today represent the best of the best,” Sandor said.
