Park Pass Requirement Waived At Willson's Woods Wave Pool

With the Lincoln Pool closed, park officials are making it easier (and cheaper) for New Rochelle residents to use the pool in Mount Vernon.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle residents were left high and dry when it was announced that the Lincoln Pool would not open this summer, but now, the nearby Willson's Woods wave pool waiving pass requirements has turned the tide.

Westchester County Legislator Damon Maher announced that the Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation & Conservation suspended Westchester County Park Pass requirements at Willson’s Waves Pool in Mount Vernon for New Rochelle residents.

The Lincoln Park pool did not open this summer because of the construction of the new Boys & Girls Club and a new apartment building nearby. The unwelcome news meant that the New Rochelle community would be without a place to dip their toes during the recent heatwave.

"Our office takes special pride in this accomplishment," Maher's office said in a statement announcing the agreement. "We worked closely with the City of New Rochelle and the Westchester County Parks Department to accommodate New Rochelle residents looking for more than just a place to have fun, but a place to go and cool off during the current heat emergency."

Willson’s Woods is among the oldest parks in the county parks system. The park is perhaps best known for its waterpark and wave pool. With three-foot waves and an 18-foot tall water slide, the facility will satisfy both a family's need for adventure and an escape from the oppressive heat.

The special admission deal will be in effect until Labor Day. Proof of New Rochelle residency or a seasonal park pass is required for admission.

Daily admission for New Rochelle residents this summer:

  • Adults: $8
  • Senior Citizens: $5
  • Children Ages 5 to 11: $5
  • Children Under 5: Free

Public parking is extremely limited at Willson’s Woods Park — carpooling is recommended if possible. Masks are required for patrons entering the facility and when walking to the locker rooms or at the concession stand.
