Quilts on Display in First New Rochelle City Hall Exhibit
The Pelham Quilters produced their work for the exhibit.
The work of 11 quilters is on display in the New Rochelle Council on the Arts Rotunda Gallery through April 27.
An opening reception was held in the City Hall facility Tuesday to mark the exhibit, which is the first to take place in the rotunda.
Fabric of America—Quilting Our History features the Pelham Quilters Catalog. Many of the quilters whose works are on display at City Hall also have quilts on display in a companion exhibit at the .

An artists' reception will be held there from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. March 25.
The exhibits were co-curated by Renee Fleuranges-Valdes and Donna Chambers, from Elmsford and Mount Vernon, respectively.

In the exhibit's notes, New Rochelle resident Giovanna Mantonvani, who is a member of the Pelham Quilters, said her family contains four generations of quilters.
"I started flirting with quilting over 20 years ago, but didn't get serious with it until about 12 years ago," she said. "After working with quilting patterns for years, I have started creating my own quilting visions.
Her work is on display at the Media Loft Gallery.
Scarsdale resident Jeanne Moccia, another member of the Pelham Quilters, said she grew up around fabric and thread because both her mother and grandmother sewed.
"After accompanying my mom to several quilt shows I decided to try it," she said. "I've been hooked ever since.
The hours for the exhibit at City Hall are weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Media Loft Gallery is open Fridays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
