Shooting, Thefts From Cars Under Investigation In New Rochelle
The incidents took place on the same night in the city.
NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Police in New Rochelle are looking for people who may have been involved in a shooting and, separately, thefts from cars in the city.
Shortly before midnight Friday, New Rochelle police went to Horton Avenue and Brook Street for a reported shooting.
Police said a 29-year-old man was shot in the leg while walking on Horton Avenue.

The man is a new resident to the area and the shooting appears to have been targeted, police said.
He was taken to Jacobi Medical Center for treatment; hospital staff told police the injury was not life-threatening.

Also on Friday, police investigated multiple reports of thefts from cars in the vicinity of Clove Road and Parcot Avenue.
Police said five unlocked vehicles were entered during the overnight hours, with numerous items stolen.
Residents are being urged to always lock their cars, remove valuables and never leave a key fob in the vehicle.
