Spooky Forecast: Severe Weather To Clear For Trick-Or-Treating

Wind gust warnings and heavy rains kick off the weekend in the Hudson Valley, but predictions call for a pleasant Halloween.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The Southern areas of the Hudson Valley remain under a high wind advisory until Saturday morning and heavy to moderate rainfall is forecast for much of the weekend, but conditions are predicted to be agreeable in time for the arrival of the "Great Pumpkin" on Sunday.

Southern Westchester is under a wind advisory issued by the National Weather Service from 4 p.m. on Friday. The advisory warning of expected East winds of up to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph is in effect through 6 a.m. Thursday. Power outages are expected and because of recent high rainfall totals, uprooted trees are likely.

There is a storm watch in effect Friday night calling for heavy to moderate rain for much of the Hudson Valley. Rain totals could average one inch or more through Saturday morning.

Halloween will be mostly cloudy to partly sunny with a chance for showers in the Hudson Valley with highs in the mid-60s. By the time the kids are trick-or-treating, temperatures are expected to drop to the mid-50s.
