Traffic Stop In New Rochelle Leads To Weapons Cache: Cops

Police allege a custom handgun was in the car; assault rifle, assault shotgun and Glock with high-capacity magazines were found at his home.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle police report discovering a cache of illegal weapons after what started as a routine traffic stop.

Officers said they found a custom-assembled 9MM handgun with an extended magazine after they stopped Nicholas Gomes-Suppa, a New Rochelle resident, at 8 p.m. Thursday.

Then further investigation by police detectives led to the discovery of more illegal guns from his home, police alleged. They said the weapons found there included an AR-15 Assault Rifle, an assault shotgun and a 9MM Glock handgun with seven large capacity magazines.

Gomes-Suppa, 29, was arrested and the investigation continues. Anyone with information is urged to contact the New Rochelle Police Department’s General Investigations Unit at 914-654-2270.
