Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: Meals On Wheels; Fun Fest
Every week, Patch will spotlight volunteer opportunities somewhere in the Hudson Valley.
Each week Patch will be highlighting a volunteer opportunity — or three — in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — in perhaps a way you didn't consider before.
And if you have some need for volunteers, be sure to let us know by emailing michael.woyton@patch.com.
This week we are putting the spotlight on three opportunities in the Hudson Valley, with one of which is happening Saturday.

First up, Meals on Wheels Programs & Services of Rockland, Inc., needs volunteers on the morning of Saturday, Aug. 17 to pick up boxes of frozen meals from the Meals on Wheels van at Volunteer New York!'s Tarrytown parking lot and deliver them to the homes of people living with cancer.
You must have your own transportation, and Meals on Wheels will do its best to assign you a route close to your home. Families, groups or team are welcome to sign up.

Second, My Brother's Keeper of New Rochelle is looking for volunteers to help at the New Rochelle Family Fun Fest Tuesday, Aug. 20 in the afternoon.
Volunteers will be doing face-painting, singalongs, reading out loud and engaging with the community.
Groups are welcome to volunteer together.

Lastly, The Harris Project is seeking ambassadors — volunteers who represent the organization at community meetings, events and fairs. Ambassadors will be committed to advancing prevention programming and an enthusiasm to advocate for the implementation of integrated treatment opportunities that can improve the lives of teens and young adults diagnosed with co-occurring disorders, or COD. COD refers to the combination of one or more mental health challenges and substance misuse and/or addiction.
Ambassadors will be community liaisons, keeping community groups updated about what is happening at The Harris Project.
