Yankees Great Mariano Rivera, College of New Rochelle Create New Scholarship

On Friday, the College of New Rochelle and former New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera will present the first Mariano Rivera Scholarship to incoming freshman student Tiffany Talvarez of the Bronx, school officials announced.

The College of New Rochelle announces a new Mariano Rivera Scholarship. Yankee Legend Mariano Rivera and his wife, Clara, will join President Judith Huntington as she presents the scholarship to its first recipient, incoming freshman student Tiffany Talvarez of the Bronx, who is a graduate of Celia Cruz Bronx High School of Music. The scholarship will cover the student’s room and board, tuition, and fees. Talvarez is the first member in her family to attend college.
