Police ID Man Killed, 2 Teens Injured In Fiery Mastic Beach Crash
The vehicle struck a tree and burst into flames, police say.
MASTIC BEACH, NY — One man was killed and two teenage brothers were critically injured in a Mastic Beach crash Friday morning, police said.
According to Suffolk County Police, Seventh Squad detectives are investigating the single car crash in Mastic Beach that occurred at 8:45 a.m. on Pine Road.
William Smith, 20, of Mastic was driving a 1996 Lexus eastbound on Pine Road when he lost control of the vehicle, which struck a tree and caught fire, police said.

Responding Seventh Precinct Police Officer David Collins, with the assistance of a good Samaritan, was able to pull passengers Rasin Jackson, 16, and Zameer Jackson, 15, of Mastic Beach from the vehicle, police said.
The teens were airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where they were listed in critical condition, police said.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said. Officer Collins was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was treated for smoke inhalation, police said.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
