“MEN WHO COOK” RETURNS TO BLACKWELLS RESTAURANT

Blackwells Restaurant will host the annual “Men Who Cook” event on Wednesday, September 21 from 6 to 9 p.m.  Proceeds benefit the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center of Long Island at St. Charles Hospital (200 Belle Terre Road, Port Jefferson, NY 11777), one of the area’s only centers for the care of people with epilepsy and seizure disorders. “Men Who Cook” features Blackwells’ Executive Chef Chris Gerdes, physicians, administrators, hospital staff, family and friends of St. Charles Hospital as they cook their favorite dishes to share with guests.  The evening also includes cocktails, dessert, and a silent auction of sports memorabilia.  Tickets are $40 per person and may be purchased by calling St. Charles Hospital Public Affairs at (631) 474-6251

In 2010, “Men Who Cook” raised $8,500 for The Comprehensive Epilepsy Center of Long Island at St. Charles Hospital. Services include diagnosis, prevention and treatment of epilepsy and seizure disorders that mimic epilepsy.  The program encompasses outpatient and inpatient components, video-EEG monitoring, WADA test (also known as “intracarotid sodium amobarbital procedure”), neuropsychological evaluation, electrocorticography, epilepsy surgery with brain mapping, vagal nerve stimulator surgical implants, and epilepsy support group.
