GREENPORT, NY — A beloved tradition was back for the first time since the pandemic Saturday in Greenport as the Parade of Lights and Tree Lighting delighted a huge crowd.
Firetrucks dazzled with lights and holiday inflatables as costumed characters, long a hallmark of the Greenport Christmas festivities, drew cheers of excitement from the kids.
The night also included a selection of music from Greenport elementary and high school students and visits with Santa.

There were gifts for the kids and hot chocolate for all.
Greenport Village Mayor George Hubbard welcomed the large crowd and noted how wonderful it was to be back and share in the beloved tradition after having to cancel the event last year due to the pandemic. Then the countdown began as he and young family members lit the big tree at Mitchell Park.
