Homeless Man Steals Items From Greenport Village Hall: Cops
The man has been arrested several times over the past few months, police say.

GREENPORT, NY - A homeless man was arrested after he broke into and stole several items from Greenport Village Hall on Monday night, according to Southold Town Police.
An investigation revealed that Richard E. Kurdt, 46, unlawfully entered Village Hall and stole a small amount of U.S. coins, two flashlights and audio headphones at about 10:30 p.m., according to police.
Upon his arrest, he was found to be in possession of the flashlights and headphones, police said.

He was charged with third degree burglary and fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property, according to police.
He was processed and held for arraignment.

Earlier this month, Kurdt was arrested for giving police fake names in order to cover up the face that he had two outstanding warrants.
He was also arrested in August after threatening to assault a man in the parking lot of the Mattituck 7-Eleven, police said.
