GREENPORT, NY — Howard Dean, former chairman of the Democratic National Committee and Governor of Vermont drew a crowd to Peconic Landing in Greenport Tuesday.
According to Peconic Landing, the goal was an "intimate, nonpartisan discussion about about the current state of American politics and the next four years."
Dean reportedly discussed the state of American politics and the Democratic party, the digital divide and what he called the "first global generation," according to Peconic Landing reps.

"Governor Dean's presentation was enlightening and informative. It also left me feeling optimistic about the future," said Damon Rallis, co-president of the Southold Democratic Club, who attended the presentation. "The biggest takeaway from Governor Dean's lecture, for me, was that the future of the Democratic Party must now be in the hands of young people if we are going to be successful moving forward. We are seeing that play out here in Southold since the November election. We have a lot of new blood — young blood — joining the Southold Dems."
He added, "He reminded us that change is going to begin on the local level. He's right. 2017 is a huge local election year in Southold and I'm feeling confident that Southold Democrats are finally going to make some inroads in town government."
