GREENPORT, NY — Soggy skies didn't stop the Greenport Maritime Festival from unfolding this weekend.
After an earlier cancellation led to a new date for the event, the weekend's weather was, once again, less than stellar. But despite Saturday's soggy start and Sunday's winds, the fun continued, beginning with the Merry Merfolk parade kicking off the 33rd Annual Maritime Festival.
Next, the Merry Merfolk costume contest took place, with all sea creatures, mermaids, pirates, and other seafaring participants showing off their costumes to applause from the crowd.
