Good morning, North Fork neighbors and friends! In the news today, an update on the owls found dead in Peconic; officials say the risk to humans is low after they were found to have avian influenza.

Also, a new East End program trained participants for careers in the hospitality and tourism industry.

And a turtle was found abandoned for more than four months after the residents of the house moved and left it in a dog carrier with no food or water.

  5. Owls Found Dead Of Avian Influenza Pose 'Low Risk' To Humans: CDC: Southold resident Paula DiDonato was bird watching on the North Fork recently when she found a dead Great Horned Owl. "I am heartbroken," she wrote on social media. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation investigated the one adult Great Horned Owl, and two owlet, carcasses that they said where found in the Peconic area on April 4; experts said the risk to humans is low..
