North Fork Named 'Unpretentious Fall Getaway'

NORTH FORK, NY — The North Fork has been dubbed an "unpretentious fall getaway," according to a post in Connecticut Magazine.

According to the article, the North Fork isn't the Hamptons, "and thank goodness for that."

Among the activities listed are boating options, pumpkin and hops festivals, and eateries to try, including Hellenic in East Marion, which has been a longtime favorite for more than four decadesand generations of loyal customers. The post also suggests wineries, hotels and and shops to make the getaway a dream, come fall.

But the secret about the North Fork's autumnal charms has been out for some time, leading residents on social media to suggest pumpkin pickers head home to alleviate mounting traffic woes and quality of life concerns.

Still, there's no denying the magic of the North Fork, especially for those hoping to make forever memories picking apples and searching for the perfect pumpkin.

It's the stuff autumn dreams are made of, according to the post, which reads: "You become absorbed by the quiet beauty, and suddenly, the endless to-do list seems insignificant ... and who knows, you just might forget about your cellphone, too."
