North Fork Woman Needs Help To Bring Horse To New Home

A North Fork "horse girl" headed to VA for a more affordable life, but she couldn't bear to leave her horse behind.

GREENPORT, NY — Like many young people on the North Fork, Paige Taylor Confort is heading south to a more affordable life — but she can't bear to leave her beloved horse behind.

Confort has turned to GoFundMe, "Horse Girl Needs Help," to raise funds and help pay for a horse transporter she needed to hire to bring her horse along for the ride.

"The most amazing thing has happened to me last year — I got the chance of a lifetime to own my horse Joy," Confort wrote. "She’s changed me and my life in so many ways. I can’t imagine life without her."

Recently, she set sail on a new journey to Virginia to "start a whole new, fresh life — and a cheaper one at that."

She kicked off the GoFundMe to defray the cost of hiring a horse transporter "because the last thing I want to do is leave the love of my life behind. That will never happen, but I just need a little help. Money isn’t the easiest to come by nowadays and I’ve picked up every kind of shift at work I possibly can. But I can’t bear to live life without my pride and joy."
