Police: Drunk Greenport Man Hits Man Helping Woman on the Side of the Road

The incident occurred on Sunday night.

A Greenport man driving drunk hit a Good Samaritan who was on the side of the road in Southold helping another Southold woman who was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Sunday night, according to Southold Town Police.

Kelsea Cassone, 18, of was involved in an accident due to the snow and ice on Route 48, according to police.

Good Samaritan Kevin Grattan, 58, of Southold stopped to help Cassone, police said.

Christopher Young, 32, was driving when he slid off the road and hit Grattan, police said.

Cassone was transported by Southold Rescue to Eastern Long Island Hospital, but Grattan was uninjured.

Young was arrested on a DWI charge.
