2 Women Steal Almost $6K In Michael Kors Bags From Tanger: Police

One woman ran into the woods before she was caught, police say.

RIVERHEAD, NY — Two women stole almost $6,000 worth of bags from Michael Kors at the Tanger Outlet in Riverhead Sunday, police said.

According to Riverhead Town Police, the incident took place at 5:40 p.m.; Michael Kors management called to say the pair had just left the store without paying, officials added. The two women had taken about 14 bags, police said.

The women were seen getting into a black Audi and fleeing before police arrived, authorities said. Soon after, the vehicle was found at the Greenview Inn on West Main Street and one woman was found, police said. Tanya Antoinette Schultheis-Brown, 37, of Riverhead, was arrested and charged with third-degree larceny and possession of burglar's tools; she was held overnight for arraignment, police said.

The second woman fled on foot into a nearby wooded area; a K-9 unit was dispatched to help with the search but she was not immediately found, police said. During the investigation, information was garnered about the second woman and police said they believe an arrest is forthcoming.

Evidence from the theft was recovered at the scene, police said.
