Saddest Good-Bye: Dog Brought Back To Shelter After Family Loses Home
"He desperately wants to be part of a loving family."

NORTH FORK, NY — It was the saddest of good-byes for a rescue dog, Spud, who was brought back to the shelter after his forever family lost their home this year.
Gabrielle Stroup, director of operations for The League, said Spud originally arrived from a kill shelter in December, 2021. "He was adopted in January and, sadly, had to come back to the shelter in August after his family lost their home," she said.
Now, Spud is waiting, once again, hoping for a second chance at a forever family.

Spud, Stroup said, is a happy dog, who did well when taken out for a recent sleepover. "Spud loves car rides, cuddling on the couch and plays well with chickens — if you happen to have those. He desperately wants to be part of a loving family," she said.
Spud does not need a lot of walks, Stroup said. "In fact, he would rather lay on the couch and snuggle or go for a ride in the car."

Spud is located in at the League's Peconic shelter. He is an American Staffordshire Terrier mix.
"Please contact us to inquire about this boy, or to come in and meet him," Stroup said. "This dog just wants a family."
