LONG ISLAND, NY — Long Islanders should keep their winter coats handy: The weekend's warm temperatures are expected to drop by Monday night — and Mother Nature is slated to bring some snow to the area.

According to Jim Connolly, meteorologist with the National Weather Service office at Upton, rain will begin Monday night, mixing with snow around midnight and changing entirely to snow by Tuesday morning.

"The official forecast is 1 inch of snow across Long Island," Connolly said, adding that the accumulation amount could change, depending on the intensity of the storm.

The warm temps will continue through Sunday; Sunday is slated to be cloudy, with highs in the upper 40s, dropping to the 30s Sunday night, and even the 20s in colder spots across Long Island, Connolly said.

Monday is expected to be partly cloudy, with temperatures a few degrees above normal, in the mid-40s, before the snow develops Monday night.
