Southold Historical Museum Announces Annual Membership Drive
Enjoy special member benefits and help preserve our local history.
Southold Historical Museum’s annual membership drive is underway. As a private, non-profit (501c3), the Museum is made up of members both near and far. Members are the foundation of the
organization! Not only does the museum benefit by having members, membership to Southold
Historical Museum has its benefits too.
Members receive invitations to lectures, exhibits, and special events, discounts at the Museum Gift Shop, a quarterly newsletter, as well as a passport which includes a one-time-use complimentary admission to the Museum’s multiple locations. Plus, new members receive a tote bag with the attractive new logo.

Members support the many programs that take place throughout the year such as the lecture series, local art exhibits and sales, the Ice Cream Social, and Candlelight Tour. But they also help promote interest in and education about the history of Southold. Not only is the Museum charged with preserving the historical buildings and archives, it is also responsible for teaching about the local history through exhibition, educational programs, guided tours, and more. Members help make this possible.
“Members are an integral part of Southold Historical Museum,” Executive Director Deanna WitteWalker said. “Membership helps to support the museum’s mission while also helping to foster a sense of community. We hope that members also feel rewarded for their special relationship to the
organization.”

There are various annual membership levels to choose from. Those who select higher levels of
membership earn benefits such as invitations to a private social event and at some levels, private tours with the director. Businesses who might be interested in supporting the museum events are asked to inquire about the separate “Business Sponsorship” campaign.
Although the membership drive kicks off in the month of February, it continues through the end of the year. Or course, new and renewing members are welcome at any time.
Annual memberships can be initiated or renewed online at www.southoldhistorical.org/membership.
Membership envelopes are also available in the office at 54325 Main Rd., Southold. Additionally,
envelopes can be requested in the mail by calling 631.765.5500 or emailing info@southoldhistorical.org.
