Storm Expected To Sock LI Sunday With Heavy Wind, Rain
Heavy wind, with up to 60 mile per hour gusts, is expected late Sunday night into Monday morning, the National Weather Service says.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Mother Nature is expected to sock Long Island with a storm Sunday, bringing rain and high winds to the area.
According to the National Weather Service Office at Upton, there is a high wind watch in effect for all of Long Island late Sunday night into Monday morning. Winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour are expected, with sustained gusts of up to 60 miles per hour possible, the NWS said.
Impacts could include damaging winds that may lead to downed power lines, trees branches, potential power outages, and difficult travel for high profile vehicles, the NWS said.

A very light rain is expected to move in Sunday morning, picking up in the late afternoon, with rainfall totals expected to be about an inch to an inch-and-a-half on the East End and up to 2.5 inches on the Nassau/Queens border, with a rainfall average Long Island-wide of 1.5 to 2 inches, the NWS said.
The storm, a Miller Type A storm, is one that moves rapidly and can pack a punch, the NWS said; the storm is expected to come out of the Gulf, across the Florida Panhandle and up the East Coast, the NWS said.
