Two Pets Missing After Greenport Fire Found Dead

One of the Greenport residents who lost several pets - including three cats and two dogs - after a fire that destroyed their home last month, appeared to have found the bodies of two of their pets in the remains of the home, according to a report in SoutholdLocal.

One of the residents, Peggy Richards, believes that the pets she found Wednesday belong to her border collie, Joyce, and her black calico, Bella, according to the report.

A red tabby named Roxy, a white cat with stripes named Tripod, a pitbull mix named Bengor, all belong to the residents are still missing.

A local non-profit, Community Action Southold Town (CAST) is collect donations for the victims of the fire. Monetary donations can be dropped off at CAST, located at 311 Front Street in Greenport, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. These donations can be cash or check payable to CAST. Those who give donations by check are asked to write “Greenport Fire” in the memo section.

Alternatively, resident can donate through CAST’s website: www.castsoutholdtown.org.
