Best Buy to Close 50 Stores Nationwide [Poll]

Company mum on Huntington and East Northport locations; Customers say they'd be at a loss.

Best Buy announced last week that it will close 50 stores nationwide by 2013 after disappointing fourth quarter earnings, cutting 400 jobs in corporate and support areas. The closures would make way for 100 mobile small format stand-alone stores.

Though the company has yet to announce specific store closures, customers outside the Best Buy in Huntington Station on Monday said they'd be sad to see the store go.

"I'd have to find another Best Buy," said Sarah Annunziata from Huntington, who added that she'd be willing to travel down the road to the East Northport location. "The prices are good, the sales staff is good, and I like the quality of their merchandise."

Iris Lopez from Huntington also said she'd travel to find another Best Buys if either of the Huntington Station or East Northport stores closed. "I wouldn't know where to go. I don't like Radio Shack or the other stores. I feel like this place has cheaper stuff that is good for me."
