Updated: Defendants in Makamah Fight Case Out of Jail

The five defendants just after the new year began have all either been released from jail or made bail, according to county records. were all arrested after allegedly entering a party on Makamah Road hosted by Justin Femiano, 19, just after midnight on New Year's Eve and causing a brawl that left seven injured.

Frank Curra, 22, of Ninth Avenue, East Northport; Thomas Savocchi, 20, and Jacob Savocchi, 18, of Kimberly Drive, East Northport; Victor Smith, 22, of Applegate Drive, Central Islip, and Blaise Felice, 20, of Acre View Drive, Northport were all arrested after allegedly entering a party on Makamah Road hosted by Justin Femiano, 19, just after midnight on New Year's Eve and causing a brawl that left seven injured.

According to various accounts, two or three of the defendants went to the party before midnight on New Year's Eve. They were asked to leave because Femiano's parents, Genevieve and Ken Femiano, were in the city and didn't know about the gathering. Justin reportedly wanted the party to stay low key and end not long after midnight, except for a small group of friends.

Editor's Note: Witnesses have since told Northport Patch that the party was anything but low key. Instead, the house appeared to be full with guests.

After being asked to leave, the men acquiesced, but came back in less than an hour with reinforcements in the form of more people and weapons that included knives, a baseball bat and a pole. 

They knocked on the door and when the door opened slightly they pushed it open and began a brawl. Party guest Zach Atkinson was hit over the head with the bat. Another guest, Arizona Hutchinson, was punched in the face. Rob Oliva, Rob Fallon and Sam Bartig were all stabbed with Oliva getting the worst of it with injuries that required surgery and a weeklong stay at Huntington Hospital. Fallon was also in the hospital for several days. 

Immediately following the fight, another guest took Oliva and Fallon to the hospital. The car in which they rode reportedly passed Suffolk County police as they made their way to the house following a 911 call from one of the guests.

Bartig, Atkinson and Hutchinson went to the hospital in an ambulance after police arrived. The car in which the defendants rode reportedly passed police, too, as they made their way to the house. Police didn't question the defendants until they arrived at Huntington Hospital to seek medical attention for two of their group who had been injured in the fight. 

After interviewing the subjects, police arrested the five men and charged them with one count of burglary of a dwelling causing injury, a class "B" felony, and one count of assault with intent to cause physical injury with a weapon, a class "D" felony. 

Following the arrests,  the defendants were arraigned on New Year's Day and bail was set at $15,000 cash or $30,000 bond except for Victor Smith, whose bail was set at $25,000 cash and $50,000 bond. Temporary orders of protection were issued by the judges in favor of the victims.

 All five were scheduled to return to court last week. At that time, the case was continued as was bail and the orders of protection. 

As of Tuesday, all of the defendants made bail and were released from Suffolk County Jail in Riverhead except for Smith, who was released on his own recognizance.

All are due back in court March 9.
