East Northport Fire Dep't. Installs New Officers, Honors Longtime Members
The department recently held its annual installation dinner.
The recently held its 103rd Annual Installation of Officers ceremony.
Board of Fire Commissioners Chairman Charles Warringer, Jr., administered the oath-of-office to the new Chief of Department Michael Tarantino, along with First Assistant Chief Joseph Ervin and Second Assistant Chief Wayne Kaifler, Jr.
Line and Squad Officers were installed as follows:
- Engine Co. 1 – Captain Gregory Schmidt, Lieutenant Frank Giovinco.
- Engine Co. 2 – Captain Daniel Flanagan, Lieutenant Steven Macedonio.
- Hook & Ladder Co. - Captain Daniel Heffernan, Lieutenant Joseph Senese.
- Rescue Squad – Captain Allison Galofaro, Lieutenant Bryan Gosik, Lieutenant Jamie Conroy
- Fire Police – Captain Charles Andreas, Lieutenant Steven Lauschus, Lieutenant Dean Schreiner
- Chief Mechanic John Cetta, Assistant Christopher Radimer, Chaplain Douglas Trumpa and Assistant Chaplain William Bootz
Outgoing Chief John McCoy was recognized for an outstanding job from 2009-2010, and was presented with a badge award detailing all ranks of office he has held.

Company achievement awards were presented to Chris Murman of Engine Co. 1, Ricky Meissner of Engine Co. 2, Ex-Chief and Ex-Commissioner Bill O’Loughlin of the Hook & Ladder Co., Tom Noonan of Fire Police, Jon Desjardins of the Rescue Squad.
The Rescue Recognition Award was presented to Anthony Caldarella and Jamie Conroy. The Paul Mathews Memorial Award was presented to Brian Hinton for outstanding ambulance response.
Time in Service Awards were presented to the following:

20 Years: Chief Mike Tarantino
30 Years: Ex-Chief Nick Macedonio, Ex-Chief William Gilman, Bruce Grant.
40 Years: Ex-Chief Dominick Venuti, Raymond Teiner, Richard Templeton.
The 50-Year Award was presented to Honorary Chief Philip Macedonio who also received honors from the Suffolk County Fire Chief’s Council.
The Commissioners Award for Ambulance Response was presented to Brian Hinton.
The James Niemczyk Memorial Award was bestowed to Ex-Chief John McCoy for his devotion, commitment, and service to the department and community. The Firefighter of the Year Award was presented to the entire department which for the first time exceeded 2,000 alarms, by answering 2,032 calls for 2010.
