Elwood Second Graders Strut Their Stuff at the Red Carpet Book Awards
The students entered a room full of "paparazzi" and even took the time to sign a few autographs.

Harley Avenue Primary School students recently strutted their stuff at the Red Carpet Book Awards.
The students in Stefanie Gallagher’s second-grade classroom entered a room full of “paparazzi” made up of administration, friends and family on Wednesday, May 6.

The red carpet event was an ending to their persuasive writing unit.
Students walked the red carpet with their book nominations. After an introduction from Gallagher, each student shared the reason why they selected their book to nominate.

Students nominated books for best book, weirdest book, nicest character and best illustrations.
Gallagher announced the winner for favorite book. After a drum roll, “Mercy Watson to the Rescue” by Kate DiCamillo was declared the winner for favorite book.
Members of the audience were even able to get some of the “superstar” students’ autographs.
