Mikey Brannigan was among 84 athletes chosen to represent the United States in the Paralympics Track Track and Field World Championships in Doha, Qatar later this month.
It’s been a great past couple of months for the star runner from East Northport. Brannigan was selected by U.S. Paralympics Track and Field as the 2015 Male Track Athlete of the Year after winning his first U.S. Paralympics Track and Field national title this summer.
About 1,400 athletes from 100 countries will compete at the Suhaim Bin Hamam stadium. Brannigan is scheduled to toe the line on Oct. 22 and 23.

“We’re thrilled to bring our largest team ever to world championships,” Cathy Sellers, U.S. Paralympics track and field high performance director said in a press release. “With less than a year to Rio, Doha will set the ultimate stage for our athletes to prove themselves against the world’s best before the Paralympic Games next September. We hope to have as much success from Team USA’s 52-medal performance at the 2013 world championships with our seasoned veterans and promising newcomers.”
