Northport Winery Proposed to Be Built Over Vacant Land
A local attorney hopes to get approval to open up a winery in Northport.

How would you like a winery in Northport?
One Huntington attorney is hoping to turn his vineyard dreams into reality by opening up a winery on 10 acres of Northport land that is currently occupied by a vacant farmhouse, according to Long Islander News.
The property, located at 29 Norwood Road, was reported sold on Zillow in 2012 for a little under $1 million. The property listing reveals the land is situated near Crab Meadow Golf Course.

Frederick Giachetti believes his vineyard would benefit the community, for example, by offering educational opportunities for nearby students at Norwood Avenue Elementary School, Long Islander News reports.
Giachetti’s next step for his Northport winery is to have the full Suffolk County Legislature vote to include his application in the New York State Agricultural District program and to have his site plan and allowances to make wine approved by Huntington Town Hall, the publication reports.
