Police Log: Arrests for Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs

Excerpts from the Northport Police Department log.

Tuesday, April 14

At 10:45 a.m., police arrested a 23-year-old Northport man and charged him with assault in the third degree, criminal mischief in the fourth degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree and petty larceny. The suspect stole a woman’s bag and struck her in the head with a bag. Police did not confirm if he struck the woman with the same bag he stole.

At 2:48 p.m., police arrested a 44-year-old Northport man and charged him with criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Officers stopped a 2010 Volkswagen while the driver was talking on the cell phone. A DMV check revealed the driver’s license was suspended 10 times on 6 dates. Officers observed a box containing marijuana and concentrated cannabis, which appeared to be packaged for sale, that was seen in plain sight inside the vehicle. The man tested positive for THC and was put into custody.

Saturday, April 16

At 1:12 a.m., police arrested Christian Escudero, 51, Pine Avenue of Bohemia, for driving while intoxicated and a restriction plate display violation.

Sunday, April 19

At 1:20 a.m., police arrested Bijan Assemi, 24, Greentree Court of Northport, for driving while ability impaired by drugs, criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana and an unsafe lane change.
