Police Log: Narcan Overdose Rescue, DWI Arrest, Child Falls

Monday, Dec. 10
At 7:11 a.m., police received a report of a suspicious event in which a man approached the front door of a home on Goldenrod Avenue. Police responded to the scene to find that garbage men were handing out "Happy Holiday" flyers.

At 1:45 p.m., police received a report that a vessel had broken from its mooring and was secured at Scudder Beach. The registered owner was contacted and said he reached out to a service to move it, but the service would be unable to do so until Dec. 18.
At 1:45 p.m., police responded to the report of a fire within Stop & Shop, located on Fort Salonga Road. The fire was put out by the store staff.

Thursday, Dec. 13
At 12:32 p.m., a child fell and injured the area above his eye at Northport Public Library, located on Laurel Avenue. Northport Rescue responded to the scene and applied pressure to the bleeding area. The child's parent declined further treatment for her child.
Friday, Dec. 14
At 7:52 a.m., police responded to the report of a man who was not breathing and possibly overdosing on heroin on Soper Avenue. The man was administered Narcan and soon after became conscious and alert. He was taken to Huntington Hospital by Northport Rescue.
Saturday, Dec. 15
At 12:45 a.m., Casey Mallia, 27, of Huntington, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after being pulled over for speeding on Fort Salonga Road.

At 7:50 p.m., police received a "suspicious event" report for a man walking around the property of the Northport Fire Department on Waterside Avenue. Officers interviewed the man, who said he was just trying to look at the fire trucks. He was escorted home.
Sunday, Dec. 16
At 9:30 a.m., police responded to the report of a man lying on the sidewalk on Union Place. The man was determined to be extremely intoxicated. He was taken to Huntington Hospital by Northport Rescue.
