Police Log: Registered Sex Offender Visits, Arrest for OxyContin Possession

Monday, June 15

At 2:51 p.m., police responded to a report of a broken water pipe at Cow Harbor Fine Gifts on Main Street. Officers discovered that a pipe in the ceiling was broken. The company said they would contact a private plumber to correct the situation.

At 7:36 p.m., police went to Maple Avenue to investigate an active bench warrant. A neighbor told police that the person they were looking for is away in California on business and will return in nine days.

Tuesday, June 16

At 12:05 a.m., a 45-year-old Northport woman was arrested and charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (OxyContin) on Fort Salonga Road.

Wednesday, June 17

At 8 a.m., police reported petty larceny in which someone stole a mercury mirror snow globe, valued at $35, from her yard on Woodbine Avenue. The larceny occurred between 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

At 3:04 p.m., police received a report that a dog was sitting inside a parked jeep on Woodbine Avenue. Officers canvassed the area and did not locate the animal or the car.

At 5:17 p.m., police were notified by the North Carolina Department of Public Safety that a registered sex offender will be staying in Northport Village from June 15-23.

Thursday, June 18

At 7:17 p.m., police reported that a man was mowing his lawn on Steers Avenue before the allowed time. The man told officers that he would wait until 8 a.m.

At 9:18 p.m., police received a report of an injured opossum on June Avenue. Officers euthanized and properly disposed of the animal.
